Taxi fares in Ireland

Taxi fares are regulated nationally by the National Transport Authority through the National Maximum Taxi Fare.

Effective 1 December 2024

Procabs operates taxi journeys. The National Transport Authority regulates Ireland’s maximum metered taxi fares through Transport for Ireland.

Standard, Premium and Special tariffs

The taximeter applies the tariff for the journey time and continues by distance or time, depending on which advances the meter.

Other charges to know

Simple additions to the metered fare

Additional adult passenger

€1 per additional adult.

Children

One child travels free. €1 is added for every two children under 12.

Pre-booking

A €3 booking fee applies to pre-booked taxis, including bookings made by phone, app or in person.

Tolls

Tolls are added where incurred and should appear on the taximeter receipt.

Card payments

Taxis accept cash and cards. No card-payment surcharge is permitted.
